“I’m Mr. Morris. ARKTIK Initiative began as a nonprofit devoted to sustainability and home security—and we even offered our help to Spring ISD before September 3, 2024. On that day, my son was stabbed in the arm at Wells Middle School by an eighth grader who said he was bored. I served as a Spring ISD Vine Mentorship volunteer at Westfield Sr. High and had proposed tech partnerships to improve safety.
The nurse took time to wrap his arm but never called me—his parent—and no one reached out to explain what happened. I only learned when I arrived in the afternoon pick-up line, directed by the principal, who said her assistant principals had not informed her of the incident. I recorded the visible puncture wounds from a sharpened pencil when my son climbed into the car and showed them to the principal before we left campus.
For months I petitioned the Texas Education Agency and my congressional delegation, then pleaded with Spring ISD’s general counsel, superintendent, and assistant superintendent for a safety plan and a transfer—only the board president and vice president offered support while other personnel failed to act. So I created a homeschool for him.
In mid-June I received a summons for a June 18, 2025 hearing, where I entered my plea and requested a jury trial—armed with video evidence and every piece of correspondence with Spring ISD. That fight didn’t start ARKTIK Initiative—it transformed it and sparked the creation of ARKTIK Institute, our A.C.E. curriculum, and the LMS that will serve learners everywhere. Because no parent should have to choose between their child’s safety and the law.”
